Community Benefits
The Ocean Avenue Project was designed to compliment the community of Santa Monica's unique civic, cultural, and artistic spirit. Careful consideration was given in every step of the design process to date to incorporate community benefits as laid out in the Land Use and Circulation Element (LUCE) and the City Staff recommendations for the Downtown Specific Plan (DSP).
The Ocean Avenue Project is committed to:
Historic preservation and long-term protection of landmarked architecture
Creating public cultural facilities with a public museum campus
Developing public open space to enhance the pedestrian experience with places to visit and spend time
Opening a public observation deck allowing residents and visitors to enjoy expansive and unmatched city and Pacific Coast views
Creating street-level improvements that enhance the downtown pedestrian experience
Inviting access to public art both in the museum campus and the very design of the building
Utilizing sustainable design practices in the construction and operation of the project
Creating and preserving affordable housing for Santa Monica residents
Adding $4.0 million annually in tax revenues and $72.7 million in direct and indirect spending in Santa Monica annually
Creating 1,394 new jobs in Santa Monica
